My name is Kela Killam. I was born and raised on the island of Maui, Hawai'i. I spent much of grade school learning the history of my Native Hawaiian ancestors in addition to state and federal classroom requirements. My background is heavily influenced Indigenous perspective and therefore many components to this website are a reflection of it.

In May 2018, I earned my Bachelors of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Sustainability from Sierra Nevada College in Lake Tahoe, NV. This website is an attempt to culminate a more clear information source of what sustainability is. Professor, writer, and ski guide Brennan Lagasse presented our classes with the philosophy of holistik sustainability allowing us to challenge current standards of sustainability and analyze different angles of a problem to decide more efficient solutions. From there, I just went with it.

***After four years in the lower 48 for college, I learned that many people don’t know that Hawai'i has an independent culture outside of American culture so I’m here to tell you we do and it’s awesome😊
